MSC Euribia, under construction at the Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, is the next major cruise ship that MSC Cruises, “the world’s largest privately owned cruise line”, will launch and commission in June 2023. When it does so, it will be the cruise line’s most advanced ship in terms of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and the second in its fleet to be powered by liquefied natural gas. MSC Euribia will also have a water park available to cruise passengers. However, in a new partnership with the cruise line, Amusement Logic has been commissioned to design, manufacture and install the theming elements of the water park’s play area, as well as a series of dry games.
Our design of the MSC Euribia’s dry rides and theming is inspired by the seabed. Large whale figures, dolphins, starfish and other sea creatures, corals and rocks give character to the space, set against the deep, dark blue of the ocean. The project includes large murals on walls and columns, as well as independent games with small dry slides, tunnels, arches and other elements. In this play area, the youngest cruise passengers will enjoy a unique immersive experience. As well as playing, children will feel submerged in the sea, a space for symbolic play, psychomotor development and exercise of the imagination.
In a previous article, we announced the launch of a new collection of soft figures by Amusement Logic, SoftPlay. This is a catalogue of “practically inexhaustible sculptural figures and themed characters”, with a specific design for each play project, which “we adapt to the story it tells” and whose manufacture is carried out using our exclusive 3DTech Soft system. In our launch we also reported that “the main novelty they bring to the market is their flexible and softness to children’s touch (…); to this we can add their striking appearance, their bright colours and shine, and their realistic and imaginative design”. This is precisely the case with the MSC Euribia project, to which all of the above applies.
