Finca Cortesin is located in the municipality of Casares, in the province of Malaga, halfway between the famous towns of Marbella and Sotogrande, and just 2 km from the shores of the Alboran Sea in southern Spain. The 44,000 m2 estate contains a real estate and tourist complex including a hotel, golf course, a luxury residential development, a beach club, five restaurants and a heliport. The hotel has won numerous awards from specialised publications such as Travel+Leisure, Condé Nast Traveler and others, placing it among the best hotels in Europe and the world.
If there is one thing that makes the Finca Cortesín hotel stand out at first glance, it is its traditional Andalusian architecture. Smooth walls, exquisitely whitewashed; curved crowns here and there and bare arches, without great accents, far from decorative excesses and on a human scale; buildings that enclose square patios, no more than two storeys high, open to the world through windows of a customary green colour, with roofs covered with typical gabled clay tiles; all details that make up its material side. Simplicity and – if both concepts could be found here – elegance and humility, elevate its spiritual side almost to the point of asceticism.
The Finca Cortesín hotel only offers suites for the peace of its guests. 67 suites to be exact, ranging in size from 50 to 200 m2, all with a palatial ceiling height of 4 metres. Added to this, and to the enormous benefit of the lucky guests, is a 23,000 m2 garden, expertly designed and landscaped by Gerald Huggan, who was once responsible for the gardens at Buckingham Palace, under the cloudy London skies. And let’s not forget the luxurious 2,200 m2 spa where native staff from the original countries provide a range of oriental treatments.
We read that, in terms of their origin, guests at the Finca Cortesín hotel are divided between 28% British, 25% Spanish, 9% American and the rest of other nationalities. The golf course in which it is immersed is responsible for 87% of its occupants, to be precise. In this respect, it should be added that among them it is common to distinguish members of the Spanish and European aristocracy, bankers, actors and members of royal houses.
However, the best thing to do is to enjoy the views for yourselves in the gallery we have prepared for you. Don’t hesitate to take a look!
