Hilton Salwa Beach Resort and Villas is a five-star leisure and tourism complex on the southwest coast of Qatar. The hotel includes 246 rooms, 115 villas, a marina, shopping and conference centre, ballroom, spa, diving centre and a themed water park. Amusement Logic was responsible for the waterpark’s design, architecture and engineering, amongst other recreational areas in the complex. One of the highlights is the Middle East’s first Canyoning Park: Desert Falls Water and Adventure Park.
The Canyoning Park at Hilton Salwa Beach Resort is an artificial canyoning circuit, operated year-through, that recreates the action and adventure of canyoning in a realistic, natural setting. It is a winding course with varying degrees of difficulty, so that it is accessible to all audiences. It includes water jumps, rock slides, waterfalls, climbing areas, as well as pools similar to river pools. Moreover, its theming with artificial rocks is essential to ensure a full and satisfactory user experience.
In terms of design, in the Canyoning Park at Hilton Salwa Beach Resort, as in all the parks we design and build, user safety is a top priority. We study the circuits in detail and, although there are no specific ones, we apply the regulations that are assimilated to the activities carried out there (water treatment in swimming pools, trampoline jumps, design of water park slides, climbing, etc.). Additionally, we carry out all kinds of complex calculations and simulations with weights, trajectories and courses, and we take into account the guidelines and recommendations of the various national federations (such as the French and American federations). Before starting the course, users receive safety equipment (wetsuit, helmet, shoes, harnesses, carabiners, etc.), and a briefing on how to carry out the activities safely. Finally, different monitors accompany Canyoning Park users at all times.
In the case of the Hilton Salwa Beach Resort, the promoter’s commitment was to add the Canyoning Park as an emblematic attraction, a differentiating element compared to other leisure and tourism destinations in the region. And so was born, the first Canyoning Park in the Middle East.
