Imagine a place that hides behind its doors an incredible world of marine habitats, surprising underwater landscapes and a variety of circuits to explore underwater. Imagine that all you have to do is get on a bus, with towel and swimming costume, to access this place and enjoy underwater experiences or practice scuba diving with oxygen tanks. Well, Amusement Logic makes this idea a reality. Our experience in design, architecture and theming, as well as in the reproduction of natural volumes with rocks, inspires us to create the scenery, passages and necessary structures. The next thing is to cover them with water and, combined with our technologies for their treatment, voilà : Scuba School, a new themed installation for the sport of scuba diving and underwater adventure in urban environments.
An aquatic attraction for everyone
Circuits of varying degrees of difficulty allow amateurs who want to learn to dive to find a suitable itinerary for them, whilst experts can also enjoy the sport with the most demanding routes and the deepest depths. At Scuba School children and youngsters can take their first steps in scuba diving and experts and regular divers have a training ground for training and new challenges. The safe and integrated environment of Scuba School is also suitable for people with functional diversity, who can practice a very healthy and beneficial activity. And the dives can be day or night dives.
An accessible and sustainable aquatic facility
Diving, which started in the 1960s as an elite sport, has become very popular today, with millions of people of all ages, genders and conditions practising it. This popularity puts negative pressure on the planet’s underwater ecosystems. Scuba School’s artificial environment is a perfect alternative for sustainable scuba diving, which helps to alleviate this pressure on the environment. On the other hand, a large proportion of the world’s certified divers only dive occasionally, as they often have to make long journeys to remote dive destinations far from large concentrations of people. Scuba School, whose facilities are located close to urban centres, makes the sport accessible to enthusiasts who live there, on the one hand, and avoids the carbon footprint of travelling to these remote locations, on the other. Lastly, the equipment needed to practise the sport is expensive and heavy. However, at Scuba School, the equipment is available for anyone to rent.
An aquatic space that integrates new technologies
The experiences provided by Scuba School can be extended with the integration of various audiovisual technologies, such as LED screens, projections or Virtual Reality or Augmented Reality helmets. The use of these technologies will result in ever new experiences and therefore repeat visits.
A viable aquatic development
Finally, each Scuba School is unique and customised, with different designs and sizes not only depending on the chosen theming, but also on factors determining its viability, such as the size of the surrounding market. The ultimate goal is to ensure a return on the investment required for its development within 3 to 4 years. By occupying a relatively small surface area (typically between 500 and 1,000 m2), Scuba School can easily be installed in the centre of large metropolises such as Toronto, Berlin, Madrid, Moscow or Beijing. But it can also form part of existing leisure attractions and add value to them. It is therefore an ideal complement to water, theme or adventure parks, shopping centres, hotels and resorts, campsites, etc.
