In France, owing to a law enacted in 2003, which came into force in all its aspects in 2006, it is mandatory for all swimming pools, public or private, to have safety systems. The main objective of this law is to reduce the risk of drowning amongst children, as they are the most vulnerable to suffer this type of accidents.
