The use of radio frequency wristbands is now very common in water parks. It replaces the physical wallet so that guests can easily and conveniently pay for services such as restaurants, shops, ticket offices, etc. inside the park. However, the use of radiofrequency bracelets can be taken a step further to improve the visitor experience. A very interesting use, already more frequently present in amusement parks, is the “virtual queue“.

The wearer brings the RF wristband to a check-in point at the entrance of any of the water park’s attractions, and the estimated waiting time to access the attraction is displayed on the screen. The user can spend this waiting time at other attractions without queues, or use the services inside the park. In this way, internal consumption in the restaurant and shopping areas is increased. When their turn approaches, the wristband alerts the wearer to go to the attraction where they have registered. So, the “virtual queue” system not only significantly improves the user’s experience, but can increase the rate of return and compensate for its higher initial cost. Moreover, the system can be combined with the existence of a Fast Pass and/or traditional queues.
