Amusement Logic is in the process of designing the master plan for a leisure and tourism complex in a North African coastal town, which will make it a prime destination for both foreign visitors and the local resident public. It is a major project that has as its backbone a seafront promenade along 1,900 m of beach, reaching a width of up to 240 m at some points, with a total surface area of just over 260,000 m2.

We present a highly complex project that combines nature, culture, leisure, sport and entertainment. Inspired by the heritage of the Arab-Andalusian cultural and ethnic tradition, our design of the tourist and leisure complex of the North African city guarantees its integration into the local landscape, respect for the environment and a diverse tourist and leisure experience.

Layout, circulation and access to the tourist complex

One of the first aspects that the design of this master plan must address is strategic zoning. From this general point of view, our design separates residential areas, public spaces and activity zones. This is how we manage to avoid congestion, traffic jams or interference in circulations, but also noise and environmental impact. In this way, the definition of pedestrian routes, service and operational roads and vehicle accesses – with a car park on the scale of the destination – optimises internal mobility, while ensuring the overall discreet and efficient management of the tourist and recreational complex.

Designing an overall plan for sustainability and ecological restoration

The project, in accordance with the aspects considered in our master plan, includes the rehabilitation of the natural environment. One of the actions foreseen is precisely an ecological park. With this, we determine a promenade whose main objective, without forgetting culture, leisure and sport, is to provide visitors and residents with an environment for the contemplation and enjoyment of the landscape and local biodiversity. Once the foundations of sustainability have been established, according to a strategic distribution that guarantees it and with this ecological restoration, let’s look at the planned activities.

A tourist complex for everyone, with activities for everyone

The first thing to say is that the urban development determined by our general plan is aimed at a public spectrum that includes all ages and civic situations, including all family members, and also people with functional diversity. On this basis, our plan distributes the activities of the tourist, cultural and leisure complex into the following points of attraction:

Water park with theming evoking rivers and mountains.

Adventure park aimed at young people.

Children’s park, or kingdom dedicated to the little ones.

Souk for strolling and recreation where you can buy local products and handicrafts.

Monumental architectural space connecting the residential areas with the sea.

Museum of contemporary art that serves as a bridge between modernity and tradition.

Sports complex with courts for different sports.

Equestrian complex for horse riding.

Marina inspired by the Phoenician architecture of ancient Carthage, for the development of nautical activities and consolidation of the connection of the complex with the maritime heritage of the region.

Public square as a centre for social activity and the development of events, celebrations, meetings, cultural festivals, shows, markets, meetings and major events.

-Lastly, there are refreshment areas close to the places of interest, located in a practical way.

To all of the above, we must add the distribution along the promenade of a series of sculptural and symbolic fountains, elements that embellish the riverside avenue, refresh the atmosphere, provide the eye with a scenic respite and spread the music of the water.

The tourist, cultural, recreational and leisure complex that emerges from our master plan, an official project sponsored by the government of the North African country, positions the city as a benchmark in sustainable development and decisively reinforces its attractiveness as a destination and as a local economic engine. We will come back to you in the future, when we start its construction.
