PortAventura Foundation is a non-profit organisation belonging to the PortAventura World leisure and tourism conglomerate, which includes the PortAventura Park and Ferrari Land theme parks, and the Caribe Aquatic Park. From a general point of view, the work of this foundation is aimed at “the integration into society of groups at risk of social exclusion, with special attention to children and youngsters“.
In 2019, the PortAventura Foundation launched the PortAventura Dreams Village project, an initiative that is included in its general mission. Following the success of the proposal, which benefits 200 families a year, the foundation is expanding the project’s facilities. Amusement Logic, which has collaborated over the years with PortAventura World, is now participating in the expansion of PortAventura Dreams Village.
A “physical space, different and playful, but also (…) emotional”, of 8,850 m2, six 135 m2 homes, a playground, football pitch, gardens and a restaurant make up PortAventura Dreams Village. The “pioneering” proposal, a “benchmark social project in Europe“, takes in “families with a child undergoing treatment for a very serious illness“. Its aim is precisely to produce “a positive effect from a psychological point of view (…), while allowing new moments of family union to be nurtured”.
To support these objectives, Amusement Logic has donated the design and equipment of a Splash Pad to the PortAventura Foundation; or rather, a Spray Park, as it is a selection from our catalogue of Spray Toys aquatic games that is the main feature of the Splash Pad. These water games, attractive to a wide public, encourage the participation of the whole family. Moreover, their abstract and open design is ideal to awaken the imagination of children and youngsters. In this way, our Spray Park makes an excellent contribution to this “positive effect” on them, as well as “nurturing new moments of family togetherness”.
Through a renewed collaboration, the small gift that Amusement Logic makes with great affection and admiration, the company adheres to the words of the president of PortAventura World, Arturo Mas-Sardá: he said on the opening day of PortAventura Dreams Village that its objective was “to contribute real value to society and to our environment”.
It only remains to add that the new Spray Park will be used for scientific research carried out by the Vall d’Hebron Hospital, Barcelona. This research consists of a pioneering psychological study that examines the impact of “a recreational-therapeutic experience, outside the hospital environment, on the emotional wellbeing of sick children at the end of their treatment and that of their families”. In other words, it seeks scientific confirmation of the benefits of leisure on health.
