In its commitment to renewable energies and energy efficiency, Amusement Logic seeks the best solution for their integration into each of the leisure and tourism projects it develops. One of the technologies that represent a source of clean energy, whose implementation in water parks is perfectly feasible, is that of mini wind turbines.
Indeed, most water parks have exit towers for slides of varying heights, usually between 10 and 16 m, sometimes more. At these heights there are hardly any turbulence-producing elements in the wind flow, so that this source can be used optimally for energy production. However, factors such as the orography of the terrain or the latitude of the water park determine the efficiency of this clean energy source. Therefore, the water park must have wind speed records of more than 4 m/s. Another factor that determines the efficiency of the production of electricity from this source is the opening hours of the water park throughout the year.
The objective of installing small-scale wind turbines on top of the slide towers is to produce energy for the self-consumption of the water park. Therefore, the electricity obtained by this means can power night-time lighting (whether functional, decorative or emergency), or other installations associated with the slide tower itself (flow meters in hydraulic lines, access controls, signage, etc.). With these wind generators, suitable energy islands are created for the aforementioned small consumptions. In addition to the environmental benefits and the reduction of the energy bill for the operation of the water park, they avoid the need for power lines and the associated costs.
Electricity production with these mini wind turbines can be combined with photovoltaics in hybrid installations. The main manufacturers have a range of this type of wind turbines ranging from 800 w to 5000 w. The investment in this type of installation fluctuates between 4 €/W and 10 €/W, depending on its size.
