At the beginning of a project, according to the client’s requirements and objectives, the so-called LOD (Level of Development) determines which of the different levels of detail, definition and integrated information of the elements that make up the model (information + geometry) is the appropriate one.

We distinguish the following levels:

LOD 100: The elements of the model appear as a graphical representation or symbol.

LOD 200: The elements are represented in the BIM model with generic placeholders. They can be recognisable as the components of which they are reflective, or simple volumes to reserve space in the project.

LOD 300: The quantity, size, shape, location and orientation parameters of the element, as designed, are obtained directly from the model, without consulting information outside the model.

LOD 350: The model incorporates the parts necessary for the coordination of the element with others nearby or attached elements and complementary information is added to that of the LOD 300 level.

LOD 400: The elements and their components in the model have sufficient detail, precision and information for their manufacture.
