Light and shadow, although often mentioned as antagonistic, are not opposed to each other. On the contrary, they are complementary aspects, fundamental elements that define architecture and the perception it offers of its forms.
Light and its companion, shadow, are therefore necessary in architecture to establish the limits of a space. The effective management of this duality in architectural design, and the conscious use of this play of nuances, is decisive in making an area, a space that stands out for its architecture, a special and exciting place. After all, light and shadow strengthen and/or weaken the volumes we create in architecture, as well as the spaces we inhabit to enjoy it.
