Since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution, from the second half of the 18th century onwards, the relentless burning of fossil fuels attributed to human activity, has resulted in climate change. One of its symptoms is the increasing frequency of heat waves. Well, we present the biomimetic design of a bioclimatic shelter to help mitigate this problem: FreshSquare.
FreshSquare is a snail-shell shaped structure that houses a microclimate inside. The biomimetic design, in combination with adiabatic cooling produced by water misting, as well as open surfaces that allow ventilation and filter light, are responsible for this microclimate.
With these elements, our biomimetic design envelops a comfortable and pleasant interior in which to shelter, sit and fight the extreme heat. Especially for the most vulnerable groups of citizens, such as babies, the elderly or those suffering from any related pathology.
