Paper-cutting is a craft used to create window decorations in China, especially during the spring holidays (in other words, Chinese New Year). The motifs used range from simple geometric patterns to more complex figures, including designs based on Chinese letters or animals from the Chinese horoscope. The cutting is done by folding the paper several times and then cutting the motifs from the edges with scissors. When unfolded, the paper shows a figure with interlocking shapes. We can easily extrapolate this cutting technique to the field of architecture with Amusement Logic’s 3D-Tech technology. By applying it to architecture, we can create a modular façade that beautifies the building, whilst protecting the interior from solar radiation and giving it its own identity.
