Collaboration between structural engineers and architects is essential in any construction project. Both professionals work to ensure that the project is not only aesthetically valuable, but also safe and functional.
Architects, who are responsible for conceiving the design of the building, focus on aesthetics, functionality and energy efficiency. Among other things, they consider factors such as natural light, air circulation and the integration of the building with its surroundings.
Structural engineers, on the other hand, specialise in the design of the building’s structure. Their job is to ensure that the building is safe and able to withstand the loads imposed on it by its design: its own weight, the weight of its occupants and furnishings, and external forces such as wind and earthquakes.
Amusement Logic, whose team includes experienced professionals in both disciplines, develops the collaboration between architects and structural engineers from the earliest stages of the project, namely:
–Conceptualisation: Our architect presents a conceptual design and the structural engineer reviews it to identify and discuss potential structural challenges.
–Preliminary Design: Both professionals work closely together to develop a preliminary design that meets the aesthetic and structural requirements of the project.
–Detailed Design: The structural engineer prepares a detailed structural design, and the architect reviews it to ensure it conforms to the architectural vision.
–Construction: During construction, both supervise the work to ensure that it is built according to the final design.
The relationship between architects and structural engineers is developed in Amusement Logic with BIM methodology, in a three-dimensional collaborative environment. This allows the identification and resolution of singularities, geometric challenges and relevant aspects of the project design, such as excavation levels, foundations, number of floors, columns, voids in structures and structural geometry of specific elements, from the very beginning.
