Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a methodology that takes into account the entire life cycle of an asset, whether it is a residential building, a park, a hotel or resort, a shopping centre or any other construction. Well, this methodology allows its use not only from the initial design and project phase, but also when it comes to an existing asset. It is irrelevant whether it is the container (the building) or the content (installations, equipment, furniture, etc.), or whether the existing asset has been previously designed using BIM methodology or in the traditional way; the result is a BIM model in the form of an inventory with advanced features.

Amusement Logic has technical specialists in all disciplines of BIM modelling and many of its projects have been carried out with this methodology. The BIM model of an existing asset, by virtue of its advanced features, will offer us the following advantages:

  • It will make it easier to carry out refurbishments or extensions to the asset in the future.
  • It will provide a detailed inventory for the control and management of maintenance operations.
  • It will enable space management.
  • It will help us with energy ratings and certification.
  • it will also facilitate technical inspections.

To create a BIM model of an existing asset, we will use the available information, i.e. the project’s graphic and written documentation. Either by digitising it, or by surveying it using a point cloud, we will create a 3D model of the asset. We will then incorporate the parameters and the minimum information necessary to create a BIM model, and thus manage the asset digitally throughout its useful life.
