The Wulingyuan district, in the north of Hunan province in the central-eastern part of the People’s Republic of China, is an enclave of scenic and historical interest. It is a well-known tourist region thanks to its spectacular landscapes—in fact, they inspired some of the settings in the Avatar film series—featuring some 3,100 striking karst pillars of quartzite and sandstone, reaching heights of up to 200 metres. It is undoubtedly an ideal place for tourism, attracting both domestic and international visitors.
This is understood by the developer, who has turned to Amusement Logic’s international experience in the design and development of leisure and tourism projects to develop a large-scale tourist complex. Following the signing of a memorandum of understanding, the company has put its Design Department to work. The project is called Thai City & Cultural Theme Park.
The design of the Thai City & Cultural Theme Park covers an area of 66 hectares in its first phase, with plans for future expansion up to 200 hectares. The exterior and spaces are determined by theming inspired by formal motifs from Thai culture. The Thai City & Cultural Theme Park consists of the following areas and sectors:
-A resort hotel with spa.
-A water park.
-An immersive animal park.
-An adventure park with a canyoning circuit.
-An area dedicated to Thai culture, with a theatre, exhibition and meeting spaces, a restaurant, a floating market and a shopping area.
-Finally, for a later phase, there is a complete theme park.
Those of you who are familiar with Amusement Logic’s way of working know that both its Design and Architecture Departments always apply the same fundamental criteria to the projects they are involved in. These are: maximum diversity of experiences; a focus on the future and the expansion of the leisure complex to anticipate growth options in the coming years; exquisite respect for local culture and customs, as well as regulations; adaptation to the real needs of the potential target market; maximum safety; and, finally, prudence in order to minimise the operating costs of the tourist complex.
The work envisaged in the memorandum of understanding consists of a site survey to determine the appropriate location for each attraction, an evaluation of the idea that defines the soul of the project, a comprehensive master plan to organise the complex, artistic conceptual designs, a detailed technical budget, a business plan and feasibility study, the creation of a corporate image to give the project its identity, and a 3D simulation of its features.
This agreement with the Thai developer strengthens Amusement Logic’s presence in Asia and demonstrates its ability to become a strategic and trusted partner in large-scale projects. International experience and methodical work are key factors in making the Thai City & Cultural Theme Park and the developer’s vision a tourist landmark.
