Dubai, known for its bold skyline and skies of steel, concrete and glass, will once again wow the international architecture, construction and real estate industries as the site of a new – and grandiose – project. The announcement was made by the news agency AETOSWire on 18th February, which opened the eyes of professionals in these sectors to its features. It is Burj Azizi, the second tallest skyscraper in the world, behind its big brother, the Burj Khalifa – also located in Dubai.
AETOSWire’s press release is headed by a headline stating that Azizi Developments, the real estate developer of the project, presented the “sales launch”, with the subtext that “prices for the ultra-luxury, record-setting skyscraper start at AED 10,000 (€27.179 por m2) per square foot”. As a curiosity, the news agency reports that the unveiling ceremony was crowned with a live performance by singer Jennifer Lopez in front of some 15,000 attendees, including “government officials, media representatives, brokerage partners, banks and financial institutions, investors, high-profile influencers and various celebrities”.
With a projected height of 725m and “131+” floors, the Burj Azizi offers suites, penthouses and apartments for sale. It will also house “an all-suite seven-star hotel inspired by seven cultural themes”. Of course, the Burj Azizi will offer “wellness centres, swimming pools, saunas, cinemas, gyms, mini markets, resident lounges, and a children’s play area (…), a vertical retail centre spread across seven floors, a luxury ballroom, a beach club, a distinctive observation deck, an adrenaline zone, and a variety of high-end dining options”.
On this last point, we will close this note with the statement from the project’s website: “Just as what’s inside each of us makes us special, it’s the offerings inside Burj Azizi that make it exceptional”.
