At a campsite, the journey from a pitch or bungalow to the swimming pool, the restaurant, the spa or any other facility offering a service usually involves a simple walk. However, Amusement Logic’s Design Department is working to ensure that this journey offers alternatives and becomes an active experience.
The new design proposal involves applying the concept of ‘soft adventure’ to this part of campsites that has, until now, been purely functional. Now, exploration forms part of everyday journeys. The aim of this new adventure design is not to add an isolated experience, but to provide small opportunities for fun and challenge. Instead of following the straight path, guests and tourists now have the option to take a detour and have play.

Alongside a main route that is easy, comfortable and direct, new branches occasionally diverge to wind through the vegetation, make the most of changes in elevation, skirt the water’s edge or go round the trees, before rejoining the main path. In this way, families – particularly their young children and teenagers – share the same route whilst experiencing it in different ways.
Without losing their original function, a slope, a garden, a riverside or the space between plots and accommodation offer an opportunity for exploration. Design transforms. Design suggests, but does not impose. The guest, the tourist, the family decides whether to take the most direct route or discover an alternative.

The design, landscaping and subtle theming reinforce a sense of continuity. Materials, vegetation, signage and local references integrate the adventure into the site and prevent it from being perceived as part of an infrastructure external to the campsite. The transitional spaces contribute to the landscape identity of the tourist complex.
The result is a richer environment, providing the perfect setting for an active and memorable experience. Leisure and landscape merge into a single whole. Exploration takes place as visitors discover there is another way to experience the campsite.
