Grande Centre Point Space Hotel is a 5-star hotel located in the city of Pattaya, on the east coast of the Gulf of Siam in southern Thailand. It is the country’s first space-themed hotel, a theme that determines its design and extends from the façade on the outside to every nook and cranny inside. 490 rooms and suites, each with a balcony and sea view, make up the Grande Centre Point Collection hotel, owned by LH Mall & Hotel Co. Ltd., one of Thailand’s leading developers and operators of shopping malls and hotels, a subsidiary of Land & Houses PLC.

According to the managing director of LH Mall & Hotel Co. Ltd., Kitti Worrabanpott, the company developed this hotel in the resort city of Pattaya because of the “unique natural attractions” it offers, along with “various kinds of recreational activities and the complete range of hospitality services to fulfil every need of tourists from various social / economic statuses”.

Paween Kobboon, an architect with Palmer and Turner Co Ltd, the architectural firm that did the architectural design for the hotel, says the Grande Centre Point Space Hotel “is rooted in space-travel concept”, noting that “it really looks like a space shuttle“.

Boonchai Sakulthamrak of Green Architects Co Ltd, the firm that designed the hotel’s landscape architecture and water park, says that “Thailand’s first space-themed hotel has more than 80,000 square metres of utility space”, and stresses that for the landscape, also designed around the theme of space, “exciting lighting is displayed during the night to replicate the mesmerizing colours of space and to attract visitors”.

Finally, Thanawat Sukhaggananda of Interior Vision Co. Ltd., in charge of decorating the hotel’s guest rooms and common areas, says that beyond hotel standards of premium comfort and convenience, his work is characterised by “the integration of fresh designs and modern technologies“. So, “as guests lie down on their bed, the glittering constellations will greet them from the decorative ceiling”. In addition, “blue light from fibre-optic circuit is also visible and goes well with aurora-like lamplight from bedside table”.

In regards to the services offered by the Grande Centre Point Space Hotel, it is worth mentioning its water park, which is also themed according to spatial motifs. The park is distributed at the base of the hotel, in an area of 12,000 m2 and four themed zones. The mountain zone, with a large cave and a jacuzzi surrounded by jungle; the Flying Rock zone, with slides and adventures for children and adults; the Space Pirate Beach, with a themed wave pool; and finally, the Planet Zone, an area with a children’s pool dedicated to family, relaxation and recreation. The Grande Centre Point Space Hotel also offers a swimming pool on its top floor, the highest in Pattaya, “a perfect spot to enjoy the beautiful view of Pattaya Bay during sunset”. A gym, a spa and relaxation area, several restaurants and the Space Convention Centre, with space-themed rooms for meetings, events and congresses, complete the facilities.
