London, UK-based real estate developer Dar Global recently announced (June 2024) the award of the construction contract for the first phase of the AIDA residential development known as AIDA. The successful bidder is Towell Construction & Co. L.L.C., “one of the largest construction companies in the country”, with a workforce of more than 4,000 employees, specialising in civil construction in the commercial, industrial and residential sectors in the Sultanate of Oman. The construction company is known for having completed landmark projects such as Muscat International Airport, the Supreme Court of Oman and the Oman Civil Aviation Headquarters.

The €34.322 million contract covers the construction of AIDA’s 5 million sqm residential destination villas. Dar Global is jointly developing the development project with the Omani state-owned Omran Group, whose express mandate is to “create sustainable and authentic tourism assets, lifestyle communities and destinations that drive economic growth and contribute to the diversification of the economy”. In addition to villas that, in the words of Dar Global CEO Ziad El Chaar, “will epitomise luxury and exclusivity“, the AIDA residential complex will include apartment buildings, a golf course and a five-star hotel. This first phase of the AIDA development is expected to be completed in 2027.

Just 10 minutes’ drive south of Muscat city centre, on cliffs that rise to a height of 130 m and overlook Yitti Beach, the residential complex offers unparalleled views of the Gulf of Oman. As Dar Global itself presents the project, “AIDA is literally above and beyond”, a residential complex that “brings together the vibes of the Maldives, the charm of Algarve, the beaches of the Seychelles, the landscapes of Mykonos, the Mauritius Islands, and Montenegro, the glamour of Newport Beach, and the allure of Cote D’Azur“.
