Pultrusion profiling, made of resin and fibre, is gaining in importance and is spreading to numerous projects in the construction sector. This is because it offers a number of advantages that make it very attractive to engineers and architects.
Firstly, its exceptional resistance to corrosion and weathering. This advantage makes pultruded profiles an ideal choice for outdoor applications where other materials, such as steel, deteriorate over time.
Another advantage is its low weight compared to traditional materials. On construction sites where the accessibility of heavy cranes is limited, these profiles are ideal. They are also widely used in projects that require a light but strong structure, such as communication antennas, where their mass does not interfere with the airwaves.
Although the initial cost of pultruded profiles is higher than that of profiles made from other conventional materials, their almost zero maintenance requirements compensate for this difference. In addition, its manufacturing process is highly efficient in terms of energy and resources and, therefore, its use in construction is more environmentally friendly and more sustainable in the long term.
