The Lopesan Group is finalising the details of its eagerly awaited expansion in the Caribbean region. Lopesan Costa Bávaro Resort, Spa & Casino, a 5-star resort situated on Bávaro Beach in Punta Cana (Dominican Republic), will welcome its first guests very soon. And it will do so with one of its main tourist attractions: its water park.

Amusement Logic, a Valencian company specialising in the design and supply of attractions for leisure and tourism, has recently completed the installation of the water park equipment at the resort hotel. The contract included both the supply of the water slides and machinery, as well as engineering and design services, manufacturing, transport to the Dominican port of Caucedo and supervision of the assembly.

The scope of the project, which has been completed on schedule, includes the installation of six water slides. These comprise two ‘Hydrotube’ slides, each 820 mm in diameter and almost 100 m long; two ‘Black Hole’ slides, each 1.4 m in diameter and over 114 m long; one ‘Freefall’ slide; and one ‘Kamikaze’ slide. All of them share a launch height of 11.50 m and are supported by hot-dip galvanised metal structures, designed in accordance with European standard EN 1069-1, which regulates the safety of this type of attraction.

One of the most unique components was the pneumatic wave machine for an 18-metre-wide pool equipped with six chambers. The system, which has no moving parts in contact with the water, generates waves up to 1 metre high from crest to trough, and allows for the programming of up to six different types of wave patterns (parallel, diamond, right-hand break, left-hand break, among others).

The new resort complex, representing an investment of over €300 million, will offer more than 1,000 rooms spread across three hotels with distinct concepts: Caoba Lagoon Resort (premium general public), Serenity Bay Resort (adults only) and Splash Cove Resort (families). In addition to the water park, the resort will feature seven themed restaurants, a convention centre with capacity for 2,000 people, artificial cenotes and swimming pools that replicate the Dominican landscape.

With the project delivered on schedule, Amusement Logic has consolidated its presence in the segment of water parks associated with large all-inclusive hotel complexes. Consequently, the Lopesan Group will be able to face the high season with all water attractions up and running. The water park not only adds recreational value but also transforms the resort into a destination for families seeking entertainment without leaving the hotel.
