Articulated modular prefabricated façade

One of the fields of research that we have studied in Amusement Logic during the last few years, is that of prefabricated modular façades. This is what we call the “building’s skin”. Three specific functions have guided us in our study of this prefabricated modular system for façades: the regulation of the passage of light, the grading of the interior ventilation, and the beautification and renovation of the building, in such a way that it stands out from the rest. On the other hand, in order to make its installation feasible, we apply strict cost control which makes the system economically reasonable.

In order to fulfil the three indicated functions, in this new design we’ve used the articulation and accordion-like folding of the façade panels. The panels are moved over each other and folded back into one of the sides of the opening. The modules are slid using hidden anchors. In the folded position, the modules accumulate in the same plane, the façade is clean, the sunlight enters and the air passes freely through the openings. However, the system allows for gradual opening and variable orientation, which enables the occupants to regulate these two fundamental functions of the building’s skin. In fact, this skin of accordion-style vertical modules complements and refines the very function of the building’s windows. Furthermore, our system is perfectly adapted to both large buildings and small prefabricated homes.

The customisation of this prefabricated modular façade system makes it possible for it to adapt.
