Surfing is a sport that transcends ages and borders, with a recognizable culture surrounding it and a large population of enthusiasts around the world. However, its practice depends on sea conditions, wind and waves, of course, and, in general, on the season of the year. Consequently, no matter how magnificent the beach beside a hotel or resort may be, it cannot always guarantee that its guests will enjoy a surfing session. And in the case of inland destinations or facilities located far from the coast, the sport of surfing is ruled out among their options. At least, until today.
To address precisely this limitation, we are introducing to the market a pneumatic chamber wave system. This is Easy Surf Pool, a device designed to produce waves in the swimming pools of tourist complexes, hotels and resorts, and, of course, water parks. This new pneumatic system produces surf waves on demand, regardless of weather or seasonal conditions. Its operation is based on a simple, yet robust principle: air displaces water when released and generates waves.
However, the shape of those waves is determined, as a distinctive feature of the Easy Surf Pool system, by the order in which its chambers are activated. Simultaneous activation produces an approximately straight wave front. Progressive activation, from one end to the other of the pool, forms an oblique wave. A sequence from the centre towards the sides creates two surfing directions. This selective activation of the chambers opens up a wide range of configurations. In addition, whether straight or oblique, the wave starts in the deep zone and transforms as it propagates over the bottom geometry, so that, as the depth decreases, its height and slope increase, it breaks further on and finally dissipates over the beach.
One aspect that is often overlooked in this type of installation is hydraulic balance. The repeated displacement of the waves transports a net amount of water from the deep end towards the surf and beach area. As a result, water progressively accumulates where it should not, and the system loses efficiency. Easy Surf Pool manages this physics through a water return circuit that is independent from the water treatment circuit. The function of this circuit is multiple: it returns to the deep end the water transported by the waves, maintains the balance of levels between the pool and the compensation tanks, speeds up hydraulic recovery between cycles and dampens the instantaneous volume variations produced by each of those waves.
In hotels and resorts, the proposal has an obvious appeal: Easy Surf Pool incorporates a surf attraction without depending on the sea, broadens the range of activities and reduces seasonality under stable conditions. This stability facilitates the sale of activities, the organisation of surf schools, the holding of events and the creation of programmes for guests of different levels. It also opens the door to collaborations with sports brands, local competitions and other experiences. Ultimately, it is a formula that, beyond room sales, helps fill the low season and diversify revenues.
However, Easy Surf Pool is not a closed solution. According to the dimensions of each project, the hydraulic engineers calculate the system’s actual performance during the functional design phase. This characteristic is simply another advantage for developers, managers and owners of hotels and resorts. After all, they always value having room to adapt the installation to the dimensions of the pool basin, the target audience and the business model. The pneumatic chamber wave system Easy Surf Pool provides that flexibility. Its modular architecture makes it possible to adjust the number of chambers, the blower power and the return configuration according to each case.
The market, for its part, supports the proposal. Experience tourism is growing and, within it, sports and active tourism. This segment shows notable stability and recovers easily from economic fluctuations. Travellers and tourists who book their trips motivated by a specific activity usually plan them in advance, spend more on complementary services and return if the experience is satisfactory. For a hotel or resort, attracting this type of customer not only improves occupancy, it also enhances brand value, which is amplified through spontaneous content on social media. No advertising campaign can achieve the same degree of naturalness.
