Urban furniture as an active element of public space summarises the concept behind this design proposed by the Design Department of Amusement Logic. Fluid, continuous forms create hybrid pieces that simultaneously function as benches, shading systems, viewpoints and street planters. They are small-scale architectures designed to organise the use of space and create attractive places to stay in streets and scenic locations.
Openings, cavities, twists and turns that shape the different configurations of this urban furniture proposal allow the pieces to be crossed through, inhabited or used as resting areas protected from the sun. In this way, urban furniture becomes more than a simple seat; it becomes shelter and a meeting point. Plants on the upper surface softens the presence of the structure and strengthens its integration into the surroundings.
From a manufacturing perspective, the furniture elements are produced using lightweight structures with an EPS core and high-resistance finishes. This method allows complex sculptural volumes to be designed and manufactured with low weight and simple maintenance. It is also a prefabrication system, which facilitates transport and reduces installation time as well as construction costs.
Squares, seafront promenades, public parks and, in general, any urban or tourist area can therefore be transformed into more liveable and stimulating spaces. In short, it represents a new way of understanding urban furniture: not as purely functional equipment, but as small-scale architecture that activates life in public space.
