Building Information Modelling (BIM) has revolutionised construction by providing a collaborative, model-based approach to project design, planning and construction. With the increasing adoption of the BIM methodology, several specialised software programmes have become indispensable tools for professionals from different disciplines. The following is a list of the most widely used software worldwide:

In the field of architecture and design, programmes such as Autodesk Revit, ArchiCAD, Vectorworks Architect and Allplan stand out. These applications enable the creation of 2D and 3D architectural models, as well as the generation of accurate documentation and efficient collaboration between design teams.

For structures, specialised software such as Tekla Structures, Autodesk Robot and others offer capabilities for detailed design of steel and concrete elements, structural analysis and generation of structure-specific construction drawings.

For project planning and management, software such as Autodesk Navisworks, Synchro PRO, Vico Office and Trimble TILOS, which offer 4D and 5D functionalities, are used. These tools allow the coordination of activities, time scheduling and monitoring of project progress, resulting in more precise organisation and more efficient management.

These programmes are not limited to a single area of architecture, but many offer functionalities and tools in multiple disciplines. However, our list catalogues them according to the area in which each of them excels or in which they are most used.
