The Covid-19 shadow falls over theme parks

Since the World Health Organisation (WHO) declared the Covid-19 pandemic on Wednesday 11th March, beyond the numbers of people affected, there’s also been continual related news from almost all sectors of the economy, including the leisure industry. Some of the facilities that reacted most promptly to the WHO statement were theme parks. In fact, the day after the declaration, The Walt Disney Company announced the closure of two of its theme parks in the US, Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure. London Resort, a world-class theme park.

It has been recently announced that The London Resort, one of the most ambitious theme park projects in Europe, will open its doors in 2024. According to its specifications, the park will occupy 90 hectares of land and will consist, in the first phase, of a theme park, a hotel complex and an additional services area with an entertainment plaza and facilities for conferences and congresses, whilst an indoor water park and a second theme park are planned for future phases. Inauguration of the Studio Ghibli theme park.

In April of the year 2022, the retinue of fans of the stories of Totoro, Mononoke and Chihiro, will be able to reminisce about some of the scenes of these animated films, thanks to the Studio Ghibli theme park. It’s a space of more than 200 ha, in the city of Nagakute, where aficionados will be able to enjoy attractions, activities and buildings in a natural environment that will replicate the anime landscapes.
