Amusement Logic’s Design Department is previewing one of its proposals, a modular system of public benches that transforms piers, riverside promenades and open plazas into ‘colourful islands”. The meandering seats, upholstered in blocks of green, orange and violet, are set into white concrete platforms like pieces of an organic puzzle. Their geometric outline replicates the pedestrian flow and, at the same time, produces intimate nooks and crannies for reading, chatting or simply contemplating the water and the landscape. Mediterranean plants – light-canopy elms and perennial gardens – are integrated between the modules to provide the benefit of shade and impregnate the air with a soft aromatic filter.
The result is a millimetric balance between landscape and urban functionality: pure lines and quality materials dialogue without stridency in the public space. Each curve favours ergonomics; each joint conceals the possibility of reconfiguring the ensemble at will and adapting it to events, street markets or cultural activities. They are colourful islands, pieces of an inhabitable landscape that turn the edge of the city into an open-air lounge. A design that demonstrates that simplicity, allied with colour and adapted to people, is a form of collective luxury.
