Amusement Logic’s Design Department has set out to reinterpret the charm of old playgrounds. Today, with this architectural proposal for children’s leisure, a series of figurative toy structures, inspired by the wooden birds that animated the merry-go-rounds of the mid-20th century.
Slats of heat-treated spruce form curved volumes without edges. The matt enamel finishes in pastel shades – sage, coral and mustard – evoke the colour palette of Scandinavian educational toys. Circular eyes and oversized beaks invite climbing and sliding, whilst wavy tails are transformed into inner slides. At the same time, a mesh of nets offers vertical play routes, protected by soft handrails and certified anchor points.
The parts are made of cross-laminated timber panels and reinforced with fibre to ensure impact resistance and durability in the weather. In this way, children are free to explore a sculptural icon which, as well as being safe, is a sign of the park’s identity and a magnet for them and their play-mates.
