Located in the Kumamoto region of Japan, Aso Farm Land offers a unique tourist experience. Mount Aso, one of the largest active volcanoes in the world, dominates the impressive natural environment in which this tourist complex is located. One of its most characteristic and unique attractions is its dome-shaped accommodation, immersed in a fantasy theme that plays with the volcanic rocks of the area.
The design and architecture of these semi-spherical structures, beyond the unique experience of the accommodation, give them an undeniable appeal. Their curved shapes minimise outside noise and make them highly resistant and sturdy in adverse conditions such as strong winds or seismic movements. In fact, during the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake, they proved their exceptional safety by remaining intact and serving as temporary shelters for many people.
The expanded polystyrene or EPS used to manufacture the domes—a lightweight, resistant and durable material that also provides thermal and sound insulation—enables rapid, efficient construction with low environmental impact. Its production consumes less energy and facilitates transport; its assembly is remarkably fast thanks to a modular design with prefabricated parts that are assembled using a snap-fit system, without the need for heavy machinery.
Inside, the spaces with comfortable beds, rest areas, private bathrooms and windows that guarantee generous natural light make the tourist experience of the accommodation truly comfortable.
