The Jiaozi pedestrian bridge over the Jinjiang River in Chengdu, China, opened in the summer of 2021. Since then, it has undoubtedly become a benchmark for architecture and landscaping, with its futuristic design and distinctive circular structure. With it, the city gains a multifunctional space for both mobility and social interaction. The many activities it offers, whether a simple stroll for adults or play and recreation for children, make it a true elevated public plaza.

Inspired by the shape of a ring—a symbol of unity and continuity—with wide platforms that resemble the solidification of waves produced by throwing a stone into the river, the bridge’s design reflects the modernity and dynamic character of Chengdu’s financial district.

Thanks to its integration into the landscape of the Jinjiang River, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the river or the Chengdu skyline. At night, an LED lighting system enhances its curved shapes and makes it a luminous landmark in the urban landscape.

The Jiaozi pedestrian bridge is ultimately an example of architecture that is not limited to meeting functional needs, but aspires to create places with identity, capable of enriching the citizen experience.
