Air shows performed with light drones are becoming increasingly popular around the world and are now a trend. These are true aerial choreographies, performed by hundreds or thousands of drones equipped with LED lights. Inaugurations, events, concerts and mass celebrations around the world are enlivened by aerial choreographies of light-up drones.
Each drone, equipped with LED lighting and high-precision positioning systems, acts as a ‘flying pixel’. Controlled by specialised computer programs, the flight of each drone is synchronised with that of all the others — and all with the music, or with any external event, such as the twelve chimes on New Year’s Eve — to form complex figures, logos and animations in the night sky.

At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, for example, more than 1,800 drones formed a luminous globe, while cities such as Shanghai and Dubai regularly use them in their New Year celebrations.
