A luxury residential development inspired by eight “wonders” of the Mediterranean Sea. This is the starting point of the new residential development that DAMAC Properties has recently presented to the international real estate market. DAMAC Properties, a Dubai-based real estate developer, “has been shaping the Middle East luxury real estate market since 2002, offering iconic residential, commercial and leisure properties“. It is precisely the iconic nature of this new residential project that catches our interest. But its inspiration from eight Mediterranean resort destinations is only one of the aspects that make it a unique project. The characteristic that makes it a unique real estate development in the world is the fact that it is planned around large lagoons with crystal clear waters. This is DAMAC Lagoons:
With more than 4 million m2 of surface area, DAMAC Lagoons will offer luxury villas of between 5 and 3 bedrooms, grouped in eight environments, according to the theming inspired by those eight Mediterranean destinations, and all around are large lakes that are the backbone of the complex. Venice, Morocco, Santorini, Costa Brava, Nice, Malta, Andalusia and Portofino are the motifs that not only inspire these eight themes, but also divide the residential complex into eight areas of activity and experience.
The Santorini area has fitness and wellness facilities and a floating cinema on the waters of the lagoon. The Venice area, on the other hand, will be dedicated to entertainment, with lakeside cafés and gondolas for romantic outings. The Moroccan-inspired division is for relaxation and quiet recreation, with extensive lawns and spaces for meditation or yoga. Adventure and more intense physical activity will feature in the Costa Brava-themed area, with zip lines, rock climbing facilities and water sports such as kayak paddling, paddle boarding and surfing. The Malta-inspired division will feature play and learning attractions, with a “sensory plaza”, a “discovery” maze, a camping island, an augmented reality nature trail, as well as outdoor art exhibitions and interactive water attractions, all aimed at the resort’s younger residents. AndalucÃa will be the centre for female residents, with its own gym, spa, beauty salon and meditation room. Finally, Portofino will represent the workplace, a centre for business, meetings and social events. The complex will also include commercial space for shops and restaurants.
As can be seen, DAMAC Lagoons is a mixed-use residential complex. In this way, it follows the current urban planning trend of concentrating in the same place the different uses for which architectural constructions were previously exclusively oriented. Whilst residential use is the main focus at DAMAC Lagoons, its residents will find everything they need to work, shop or enjoy leisure and entertainment, without having to move anywhere else.
