Of the many historic challenges that Amusement Logic has successfully faced throughout its history, the following three projects are paradigmatic examples. The first is a hotel that would make history in leisure and tourism, on the island of Mallorca and in the country, Spain: the BH Mallorca Hotel, in Magaluf, municipality of Calvià. A few years later, in a new challenge, the company realised the first themed family entertainment centre in a shopping mall on the African continent: Under The Sea, in Village Market Shopping Mall, Nairobi, Kenya. The company’s third historic challenge is a water park project in the city of Abuja, the federal capital of Nigeria: Sunrise Waterpark.

As for the first challenge, the BH Mallorca Hotel -today Hotel Fergus Club Mallorca Waterpark-, shortly after its opening in May 2015, Diario de Mallorca pointed out that it was “a new concept of hotel leisure in Magaluf”, a concept that “revolutionises the island with a great experience just for young people”.

After its renovation, the once conventional hotel would now boast the “most exclusive Beach Club in Magaluf”, or “the coolest oasis of relaxation on the island”. And that was not all: the BH Mallorca Hotel would also have “the only open-air festival venue in Mallorca” a stage for live performances with a capacity of 4,500 people. In addition, the new hotel would open its doors with “the only water park in the world only suitable for people over 18 years of age”, that is, “a fun and refreshing attraction designed and built by the specialised company Amusement Logic”.

And so it was, the company completed against the clock, within six months and in accordance with the client’s wishes, an “intervention” that included “slides (with exit towers and pumping systems)”, including “a human roller coaster with a 360-degree turn where you can reach up to 60 km/h”, as well as a wave pool and the general theming with artificial rocks.

Years later, in October 2018, a new challenge opened on the 4th floor of the Village Market shopping mall in Nairobi, Kenya: the Under The Sea family entertainment centre. At the time it was the “largest indoor kids’ playground in East Africa” and the first themed family entertainment centre in a shopping mall on the African continent. Amusement Logic custom-designed the available premises, with extensive theming inspired by the ocean floor.

To carry out the Under The Sea leisure centre project, the company embarked on the fabrication of unique pieces, including the huge octopus that protagonises the space, a large shark and many other themed elements. The company then faced the challenge of transporting all the pieces to Nairobi and carrying out the construction and installation work at the Village Market shopping centre. Today, the indoor children’s entertainment centre for children up to the age of 12 has become a hugely popular attraction for families in Kenya’s capital city.

More recently, in March 2024, in an official ceremony attended by Nyesom Wike, Minister of Territory, Sunrise Waterpark, the largest water park in West Africa, was inaugurated in Abuja. Amusement Logic had been chosen to design its master plan and the executive plan for its construction. In this case, the challenge for the company lay in the terrain and the economic constraints of the project.

Indeed, the prescriptive topographical survey highlighted that the almost 9 ha site on which Sunrise Waterpark was sloped steeply to the east and northeast. Far from finding this a drawback, the company’s design team used it to the project’s advantage. This resulted in a master plan naturally adapted to the terrain, with the entrances, car park, welcome plaza and reception buildings on the elevated south-west side, and an optimised space of terraces and zigzagging paths, descending in a stepped manner to the lower part of the water park.

On the other hand, and thanks to this design, which, as we have said, is in keeping with the nature of the site, the earth-moving requirements were reduced to a minimum. The design of the theming and the location of the attractions followed the same principle of adaptation and economic efficiency. Beautifully designed and of enviable operational convenience, the result is striking. Since its opening, Sunrise Waterpark’s popularity has only grown.
