According to the latest quarterly report published by Turespaña, the increase in tourists so far this year, means 2017 is set to close with a figure of 83 million international visitors. This means a ratio of 1.8 tourists per capita, the highest rating amongst the world’s 20 largest economies.
All the Spanish regions are benefitting from tourism increases, most of all Andalucia and the Communities of Valencia and Madrid, with two-digit growth rates. The pace is more moderate in Catalunya and the Balearics.
Other Mediterranean destinations such as Croatia are experiencing a similar trend, whilst tourism recovery seems to be slower in Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt. Whereas in Turkey, the moderately negative trend is continuing for the time being.
