The Mana Bay Water Park, the third largest water park in Asia and the first in Bangladesh, has just been officially opened. Amusement Logic was actively involved in the development of the design, architecture and engineering of the project, as well as in its execution, especially in the Polynesian-inspired theming or in the equipment for the water movement of what is one of the longest and most spectacular lazy rivers in the world and on the Asian continent. To this end, the company put practically all its departments at the service of the project.
The park, which covers some 60,000 m2, features rides for people of all ages, water slides, a double wave pool, the aforementioned lazy river, children’s areas, pools of different types for different activities, restaurants, bars and cafes and even a wet disco. In addition, according to the press, “an iconic volcano in the park’s centre adds a unique touch to the Polynesian-themed attraction”. The volcano was one of the biggest challenges that Amusement Logic solved effectively. It is an attraction that is 25 m high with a 45 m base, which not only houses offices and administration spaces for the water park, but also has special sound, fire and smoke effects to simulate a real eruption in detail.
The press headlined the story as follows: “Country’s first-ever premium water park opens in Gazaria”; or more simply: “Water park Mana Bay inaugurated in Dhaka”. After an initial “soft opening” ceremony, the park finally opened its doors to the general public at the end of September. Bangladesh Home Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, accompanied by British Deputy High Commissioner Matt Cannell, attended the opening as “chief guest”. They were joined by Masood Dawood Akbani, chairman of the Mana Bay Water Park, as master of ceremonies.
According to officials, their commitment to creating a water park that embraces the Polynesian, Melanesian and Maori concept of mana (according to the Oxford English Dictionary, “impersonal supernatural power which can be associated with people or with objects and which can be transmitted or inherited”), has resulted in an “extraordinary attraction that celebrates the best of nature and culture”.
The two-day opening ceremony of the Mana Bay Water Park featured an opening parade with “warrior dance, Haka dance and stilt walking performances”, according to its theming, as well as other theatrical and musical performances, face painting activities, arts and crafts and caricature workshops, and more. The director and owner, Ovais Akbani, told the press that Mana Bay Water Park aspires to be “more than a water park“. He explained that his goal is to “create a lasting legacy that enriches the lives of our visitors and the region as a whole” or, in other words, “along with creating waves in the pool, we aim to make waves in the local economy, fostering employment, and contributing to the betterment of Bangladesh“.
We encourage you to enjoy the spectacular views of the water park, as developed by Amusement Logic, in this VIDEO.
