The World Waterpark Association (WWA) awards the Leading Edge Award each year, among many other prizes, in the waterpark sector. The World Waterpark Association presented this prestigious award to Amusement Logic last October. According to the WWA, the Leading Edge Awards are given “to individuals or parks for creativity in the development of new themes, facilities, programs, services or operational concepts (…), and to suppliers who have developed new concepts, products or services to the benefit of park members, their customers and the water attractions industry“.
Amusement Logic won this important award for the design, theming and construction of an adventure course that is now part of the Pirate’s Cove water park on board the MSC Seashore cruise ship of MSC Crociere S.A. This adventure course, with a general theme inspired by pirate stories, consists of two towers with two platforms, spanned by a V-shaped bridge and accessed from another rigid bridge. A giant octopus or Kraken, the mythological sea creature produced by the Norse imagination, attacks these towers with its huge tentacles. Amusement Logic manufactured the Kraken and the rest of the theming, complete with barrels, gold-coin filled chests and other figurative elements, exclusively for the MSC Seashore using its proprietary 3D-Tech technology.
he WWA is an international non-profit association, founded in 1981, which brings together waterparks from all over the world, regardless of their “shapes and sizes”. The work of the WWA trade association is to provide its members with “the education and networking that they need to operate safely and effectively“. Governed by a volunteer board of 14 waterpark owners, operators, suppliers and developers, the association awards, in addition to the Leading Edge Award, other distinctions, including “Commitment to Excellence”, “Lifetime Achievement”, “Industry Leadership”, “Industry Innovation”, “Emerging Leaders Employee of the Year” and more.
