When the aim is to create a façade that can be opened and, in doing so, does not interrupt the continuity between the interior and exterior of the home or building, then folding façade systems should be considered. This is a system that looks like a conventional enclosure when unfolded, yet when slid and folded, creates large and spectacular openings that are completely unobstructed.

These façades fold in on themselves with an accordion system. The panels, hinged together, run along hidden rails in the floor and ceiling. Their modules fold with little effort and offer the option of sliding to the left and/or right. They move silently on guide rails which, as mentioned, are located at the top and bottom. This type of accordion folding façade requires space for the panels to retract to the sides.

At Amusement Logic we understand that the design of these enclosures is key, so that when they are unfolded, the façade becomes an aesthetic element with a unique and attractive style. In the example we’re presenting this month, the sliding panels are not completely rectangular, but are formed from a system of sinuous axes and a final S-shape. However, this shape does not prevent the panels, when folded, from being stored neatly at the sides of the house or building.

In short, the folding façades proposed by Amusement Logic eliminate the boundaries between the inside and outside of the house or building and open up its rooms to larger spaces. One of the practical effects is, for example, that homeowners have immediate access to their garden at any time, without sacrificing privacy at other times. In addition, the key designs give the home a visually appealing quality.
