This new architectural proposal by Amusement Logic’s Design Department imagines a five-star resort immersed in a desert topography. Hyperbolic columns of pigmented concrete and voussoirs precast in GRC (Glass Reinforced Concrete), support undulating slabs pierced by large oculi. These channel the night breeze and project beams of light onto the central water mirrors, resulting in a microclimate of up to 8°C cooler at sunset, without the need for conventional air conditioning at those times.

The glazed duplex suites are fitted with electrochromic glazing, which adjusts the transparency of the glass according to the sun’s rays. At the same time, a ‘second skin’ of digital mashrabiya printed on aluminium filters the sand and offers privacy without losing the view of the dunes. The interior design, meanwhile, relies on carved local limestone, walnut panelling and Bedouin-inspired fabrics. They are also equipped with low-consumption domotic devices, powered by a photovoltaic garden.

The curved roofs are designed with a dew condensation system from which the landscaping benefits; the water captured irrigates the olive trees and acacias whose shadows fall on the outdoor spaces. Walkways between sheets of water lead to panoramic terraces that frame the sunset and offer a scenic experience of great beauty. This is Dune Horizon, a resort hotel with which Amusement Logic brings contemporary luxury to the extreme desert climate.
