Designed and built by Amusement Logic, the Cerceda water park—or Aquapark Cerceda, its official name—is a publicly owned tourist attraction. But it's not just any water park; as one of its regular visitors told the local newspaper La Opinión A Coruña, Aquapark Cerceda is a "summer classic." This water park is a benchmark for summer leisure activities for tourists and residents of the province of A Coruña and, in general, the autonomous community of Galicia, Spain. The news, however, is that Aquapark Cerceda just celebrated its first quarter-century of history in an exceptional month of June.
The story of a successful water park
Aquapark Cerceda, promoted by the Cerceda City Council in 1998, opened its doors in June 2000 with an initial investment of nearly €3 million. In its early years, the park received around 65,000 visitors per summer. However, in 2024, it doubled its initial attendance, reaching 120,000 people. Despite all this, it had never surpassed 3,000 visitors per day, as it did last June. Indeed, on Sunday, the 29th of this month, Aquapark Cerceda reached its highest number recorded since its opening, with 3,272 people visiting its 3 hectares of grounds in a single day.

According to Laura Casás, who is in charge of the aquatic complex's entrance check, Aquapark Cerceda "is a very family-friendly park with many school and college excursions, but we are surprised that more foreign tourists come to visit the facilities every year." Without a doubt, one of the factors behind this water park's success is its history of constant evolution, which has provided water-recreation enthusiasts with new attractions and improved facilities over the years. And always with a clear commitment to safety, environmental integration, and a family experience.

Renovation of the Cerceda Aquapark
Amusement Logic designed and built the initial phase of the Cerceda Aquapark as a natural complex integrated into its surroundings using artificial rocks and vegetation. It was a water park for all audiences, with separate areas for children, relaxation areas for adults, and green spaces, as well as dynamic attractions for youngsters. In an exclusive interview with Amusement Logic in 2018, José García Liñares, former mayor of Cerceda and pioneer of the project, already attributed its success to "the growth in visitors and the popularity of the park." And that was what motivated the local authorities to plan its expansion in two phases, with new attractions.
A legacy of leisure for the community
Cerceda water park transforms the town's summers today, and has done so for 25 years. It has also boosted the local economy and helped—García Liñares told us in the interview—attract more than 200,000 yearly visitors to a municipality with barely 5,000 inhabitants. As the current mayor, Juan Manuel Rodríguez, told La Opinión A Coruña, "these figures confirm that the Aquapark continues to be a key tourist attraction for Cerceda and the entire region."
After 25 years, the feasibility study conducted by Amusement Logic at the request of the Cerceda City Council, prior to preparing the project, has proven to be completely accurate. With its fun and nature-filled offerings, Cerceda Aquapark has continued to be a benchmark for inclusive and sustainable leisure over the years. The achievement of a record 3,272 visitors in one day on June 29 (2025) crowned the first quarter-century of its history. Congratulations!
