We are going to talk about a very special collaboration that Amusement Logic is carrying out with the Turkish ultra-luxury “all-inclusive, all-exclusive” hotel group Rixos Hotels. This collaboration is part of the construction of a large resort hotel in King Abdullah Economic City on the Red Sea coast, just over 100 km north of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia’s second city. It is the Rixos Premium Emerald Shores, which is spread over 275,000 m2 of land, just a few metres from the beach, amidst lush gardens, swimming pools, restaurants, a spa, 540 rooms, 41 villas – 5 of which, the most exclusive, are on the water – a golf course and a ‘large-scale water park’.

Among its many attractions, this water park will feature an innovative adventure, a pioneer in the world of water parks: Adventure River. Its design has been entrusted to Amusement Logic. With the new water attraction – which contributes to the other exceptional facilities – Rixos Hotels will deliver on its promise to offer tourists “exceptional escapes (…) beyond the ordinary”. Amusement Logic’s design of the adventure river responds to this challenge.

The general theme of the water park revolves around the idea of a port, located among emerald mines on the shores of the Red Sea. And the Adventure River is a river that runs in a closed circuit, twisting and turning on itself, with both fast and calm stretches. Guests of the Rixos Premium Emerald Shores – and visitors and tourists alike – experience a journey on floats along the bottom of a rocky canyon, through grottos whose walls sprout emeralds and through mysterious caves with a steamy atmosphere.

In keeping with this theme, the water park is divided into 10 themed zones with their corresponding attractions: a “Moroccan/Central African outpost”; a children’s play area starring the characters of the theming, or “the guardians”; a ‘Spanish/Central African market’; a shipyard or shipbuilding area; a “Moroccan/Spanish seaport”; 3 areas of “emerald springs”, “emerald forests” and an “emerald mine”; a large wave pool with an “iconic” lighthouse; and finally the “emerald caves and mountains”.

The river of adventures that Amusement Logic designs, lies in this last thematic area, that of caves and emerald mountains. After all, the company specialises, among other things, in the design and construction of artificial rocks – artificial only in appearance – which is why the Rixos Hotels group has entrusted it with the design of this Adventure River and its theming.

It only remains to add that the water park will open to the public, foreseeably, this same year of 2025, although there is still no official date. In any case, we will be talking about it again, so stay tuned.
